SiteHouston, was curated by Bill Arning and Jillian Conrad. Fellow photographer Gary Watson and I documented the transformation of the Riviana rice facility to The Silos on Sawyer, a new arts community in the Washington Avenue Arts District. Our final installation THE SILOS PROJECT was designed to be immersive and observational. My project was to create a 360-degree digital image/video and Gary’s was to exhibit traditional black-and-white analog photography. These processes, which are at opposite poles in the world of photography, combine and co-exist to provide the audience a detailed visual documentary and a transformative big-picture experience. THE SILOS PROJECT is not only about the history and renewal of a structure but also about the state of photography today.
